After incessantly complaining to my friends about wanting a blog… here we are.

Who am I?

Hi, I’m Nikhil (he/him/his). I’m 18 years old, originally from Seattle but currently experiencing my first year of college in Chicago. I’m Hindu, Indian-American, vegetarian, Telugu, almost six feet tall, somewhat multilingual, a student of South Indian classical music, a wannabe photographer, and a lover of Thai food.

What is this blog about?

Me! No, seriously. That’s why this blog’s (current) title is “Nikhil, etc.” I’m hoping to use this space to post quasi-intellectual musings about college life, links to articles I’ve read, new music I like… essentially a running collection of whatever I find fascinating. Hopefully you’ll find some of this stuff interesting as well, and I’m hoping to become a better writer along the way.

My interests include, but are in no way limited to:

  • anything and everything related to South Asia (history, politics, cultures, languages, religions, etc.)
  • Indian classical music (and world music in general)
  • religion
  • world history
  • global politics
  • languages
  • environmental issues

This is all incredibly exciting to me because maybe — just maybe — I might actually be somewhat productive this winter break. We’ll see.

Thanks for taking a look at my blog, my first legit post should be up soon!
